foxtons, See the most impressive homes in London
They act as a property portal for consumers. As with others in this niche, we admire that focus on serving the customer instead of the agent. In London, that’s a rare thing and one that is much appreciated. There is a small issue with curation, but for many that is not such an important thing. As long as the details are correct, they can make their own decisions. It’s worth noting that Rightmove have also been known to engage in a little pruning too, taking off disreputable agents. It might not be the full on curation that we’d like to see, but it’s certainly better than the “oops, not our fault!” approach that many other companies take.
The usual. You can search in a precise and location based way, which will allow you to find a flat that suits your needs. Of course, agents tend to rather complicate things by adding things into the wrong category- a studio is a not a one bedroom flat, especially not when there is a specific option for studios! Even so, agents that are found to consistently misrepresent themselves are sometimes delisted, which is a good start. What really makes Rightmove our preferred choice though is the frequency and accuracy of their email updates. When we put in our very specific requirements for a property, they remembered them and sent us matches as they were listed. They’re not the only ones who do this, but they’re one of the precious few that actually do it correctly. As for why other company would send us £1200 PCM properties in North London when we’re looking for a cosy studio in Earl’s Court, well that’s a mystery that still remains to be answered.
Very regular. If there’s a listing on the site, you can expect it to be live. This is especially useful given all the annoying instances that can occur when you want to go and look at a property, only to find that someone has already snatched it up. With Rightmove, that’s just not an issue. They also take a little more time to look at each entry, so the chances of you getting a complete stinker are much reduced.
Number of Houses
They offer an excellent selection that encompasses pretty much every aspect of the market. If you’re looking for a luxury property in one of London’s best areas, complete with a study and stunning balcony view, they’ve got it. Hoping to find a bargain to keep yourself going when you’re new to the city? They’ve got it. That mix of property sizes and prices is invaluable and makes Rightmove one of the better sites.
Ease of Use
The ui is simple and intuitive. We had no problems using it and can’t imagine that anyone would find anything to complain about. It really is as easy as simply specifying what you want and hitting search. The map could be a little easier to use (it has a lot of markers which, although specific, make setting out an area rather time consuming) but that’s a minor annoyance.
Rightmove is a site that we have little issue with recommending. It really is one of the better ones out there, although we feel that they could steal the crown with ease if they just followed through with their ideas. More extensive curation and customer first service, with an accessible site, would easily see them beat off all challengers and become the undisputed king of the rental market. As it is, they’ll have to settle for merely being one of the better ones.
