easyroommate, easy way to post your room
Their ethics and well maintained site. They’re quite detailed about it in the pledge section of the site, and vow to do everything that they can to keep users happy. This includes making sure that listings aren’t left up after properties are gone and a variety of other black cat tricks that are often employed by less scrupulous agencies. It’s a refreshing change to hear a company be so concerned about this, but the truth is very much in the pudding. It’s all well and good to say these things, but can they actually do them?
In general, the service is very good at what it does. We found using it to be both easy and reliable, and most of the people on there were very good natured. It fosters a caring community and those that advertise on there tend to be rather agreeable, although there is the odd perfectionist who we wouldn’t live with in our deepest, darkest nightmares.
The staff are equally friendly and obviously care about the service that they provide. If you need any help, asking them is all it takes to get a solid response. They’re earnest in their attempts to fix any issues and that makes a big difference when you’re looking to rent a property in London.
As we’ve already mentioned, they take special care to ensure that there are no outdated listings on the site. Whilst this sounds very encouraging, do no mistake it for active curation. We did, and we were disappointed when we found out the truth. What they mean when they say this is that they simply don’t keep flats on record after they’ve been confirmed to have been rented out in order to boost their numbers. Given that this is a ridiculous and insanely counterproductive practice that only serves to boost a site’s reputation at the shallowest of glances, we’re not sure that Easyroommate deserve a gold star for that one…
Number of Houses
Relatively extensive. This might be very much a seller’s market, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a huge number of sellers. It’s relative really: lots of sellers but massive competition for what’s on offer. What does that mean for you, as someone looking to rent? Well, it means that you’ll get to choose from a wide variety of properties, but actually securing them is another thing entirely. Keep a close eye on it, and make bookings to look around as soon as possible. If you like the property after a viewing, go in and try and get things sorted ASAP. It’s more effort, but it should ensure that you beat out the hordes to get the flat that suits you best.
Ease of Use
In general, things are fairly simple and easy to use. The UI is well designed and it’s obvious that they want to make it as streamlined as possible. One thing we must note though, is that this can come at a cost. We had used the site before and it was a lot easier to actually find the perfect roommates using filters. These have since been simplified and are now much less intensive. it’s clearly been done to make the whole process easier, but that added depth was worth the extra effort honestly.
Easyroommate is an excellent service for anyone who is looking to find someone to rent a property with. As the name suggests, it makes the process of find a roommate pretty damn easy. It’s definitely up there with some of the other excellent services that we’ve reviewed, all of which you can find by browsing this site.
